The Conference is organized by National Productivity Corporation (NPC), Malaysia and co-sponsored by Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and Asia Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association Center for Training and Research in Agricultural Banking (APRACA CENTRAB).

The objectives of the conference are:

  • To review best practices of successful value chain financing models and determine which may be suitable for the requirements and existing conditions of countries in Southeast Asia; and
  • To identify appropriate roles of relevant international/regional organizations and government institutions in the promotion of value chain financing and the profitable integration of small producers, processors, and traders in the value chain.

The conference will be divided into thematic sessions consisting of interactive experts' presentations, case studies, panel discussions, workshop, and poster session. The following are the proposed tentative themes:

  • Enhancing competitiveness with value chain financing;
  • Value chain financing models;
  • Financing along the supply chain: experiences and prospects;
  • Role of financial institutions in value chain financing;
  • Building collateral and improving credit worthiness through value chain integration;
  • Integrating technical assistance: effective ways to reach small farmers;
  • Success stories and how to replicate them; and
  • Case study discussions
