According to reports in the Indian press, Subhiksha is planning to set up private wholesale format (mandi) for fresh produce in Nashik and Pune. The mandi would supply fruits and vegetables to Subhiksha stores and other retailers as well.

Subhiksha president (agriculture commodity sourcing Chennai) G Kashinath said, "The company is aiming at seeking approval from Maharashtra's State Agriculture Marketing Board in the coming weeks which it expects to obtain in the next two months. We can have multiple mandis once we see the success of one (planned at Nashik). We are looking more for our backward linkages for our own outlets. We will be doing some wholesale but the majority will be for our own requirements." The private mandis will service 400-500 Subhiksha stores in Maharashtra and the western region. Separately, Subhiksha has already rolled out fruit and vegetable stores called Subhiksha Mandi.
