Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF). Application Deadline: June 30, 2008 and August 5, 2008

A US$50-100m private sector fund, backed by some of the biggest names in development finance and hosted by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). Our aim is to encourage private sector companies to compete for like-for-like investment support for their new and innovative business ideas.  The AECF is open to proposals from all countries in Africa. However it will focus initially on 13 countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia) operating from three regional hubs (Nairobi, Accra and Johannesburg). Multi-country and regional projects are also eligible. www.aecfafrica.org

Wallace Center: Call for Submissions. Application Deadline: June 16, 2008

As part of a new project jointly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Wallace Center at Winrock International is seeking innovative examples of locally-owned food enterprises, and needs your help. The new initiative, Community Food Enterprise: Local Success in a Global Marketplace, will analyze and present 24 cutting-edge models of local food enterprises from around the world. If you know of non-U.S. examples of community-based or local food enterprises, please contact the project site for additional information and case study criteria. Good Day

My name is Thandeka Maphosa and very much interested in getting a Pick n'pay franchise. I have noticed that in my mothers town they don't have a retail supermarket that sells quality food and add value to peoples life.

Please advise me on what do i need to do inorder to venture into this worthy business cause a healthy mind creates a healthy body.
