Practical Action's Markets & Livelihoods programme
October 5, 2008 |
The goal of Practical Action's Markets & Livelihoods programme is to facilitate improvements in the livelihoods (secure income/reduced vulnerability) of poor rural producers working in market-based production systems.
Practical Action's Markets and Livelihoods Programme is implementing projects in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Peru, addressing three Programme Objectives:
- Strengthening viability of smallholder farming
- Livelihood opportunities for pastoralists, forest-users and fisherfolk
- Strengthening rural non-farm enterprises to benefit from markets
- The programme's objectives involve enabling smallscale producers to acquire the skills, knowledge and organisational capability to earn greater income, more reliably, from selling produce profitably in existing and new markets.
